Cat Cafe
Thishouse is designed for Mr.Martin and Ms. Martin who want to own a little cat café. They wish cats andhumans can get alongin this space and enjoy the time they spend with each other. Alsothey want their living space separate from the café to protect their privacy.Based on these requirements, I found ‘interaction’ as a key word for thisproject. The interaction between the owners and the customers, between thecustomers and the cats, between the cats and the house, between the café andthe living space……So finally I comeup with thedesign of two volume intersect with each other, which symbolises ‘interaction’while labelling the function of the space.
Ichoose to use different colours to distinguish and emphasize the two volumesthat form this house. The black square in the middle is most public place inthe house, the café. Dark color can makes this part looks more strong andstable. Different from that, the other volume contains more private space likebathroom. It is hanging over the middle part, so I use white to make it feellighter. Also these two different colours create great contrast.
Open Kitchen
Thisopen kitchen or the open bar create a great environment for the owners tocommunicate with their customers. Since this café is really small, Martins lovemaking friend and which to make the café feel warm and welcome, it will beawesome to have a open space to make the owners and the customers feel closer.
Climbing Bookshelf
Thisbookshelf is a special stair for cats to move freely in the house, and can holdbooks and decorations at the same time. Cats can jump up all the way from thebottom to the top and even able to enjoy sunshine on the planes in between. This book shelf not only create a space for the cats, but also connect the twofloors, which also means connect the private living area and the public café,in a positive way.
Empty
Thisempty I create can help the owners pay attention to the café down stairmore easily when they are working in their private space. Also, the sunlightand the open view may help the owners to decrease the stress from the work.
